The Art of a Facelift

Last week saw the launch of Dr Jack Zoumaras’s new book, ‘The Art of a Facelift’, a deeply personal guide that gives the reader an honest expert opinion on everything they need to know about facelifts and delves into his personal story and what inspired him to get into medicine from a young age.

Growing from a desire to invest in his spare time during COVID, the book explores Jack’s humble beginnings in the western suburbs of Adelaide, as the youngest of five children, growing up in a family surrounded by multiple health challenges. Some of his earliest memories were of his mother taking him along to the many varied appointments with doctors who were assisting with care of his older intellectually disabled sister. His father also suffered from severe kyphosis, otherwise known as a hunchback, and sadly did not live to see his son realise his dream of being a plastic surgeon and owning his own practice. Jack credits this early exposure to the world of medicine as the inspiration for his long-held passion to become a doctor.

His book is a great resource for those wanting to know about the face and the facial anatomy, including what a facelift does and the history of such surgery. He shares his invaluable insights into the reasons people have facelifts and most importantly how it makes them feel post-surgery.

I am delighted to finally be publishing this book and telling my story and the stories of my patients. I wanted to share my story from my humble beginnings in the outskirts of Adelaide, through to my long haul in surgery training, to now finding myself living my childhood dream, as a doctor, leading an elite plastic surgery clinic. Plastic surgery and in particular facelift surgery empowers my patients to unleash how they feel on the inside, to the outside world and it is my great privilege to be a part of this journey with them. – Dr Jack Zoumaras
