More than 150 of Australia’s top Facial Plastic Surgeons and Plastic Surgeons are amalgamating in Sydney this week for a conference on the latest in Functional and Aesthetic Rhinoplasty. For the first time, the Australasian Academy of Facial Plastic Surgery (AAFPS) and the Australian Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) have combined to host the event.

About the conference

Better breathing, less snoring and marital facial harmony are all more achievable when rhinoplasty is performed at its best.

“Nobody knows more about noses than the keynote speakers we have attracted to this meeting,” says Australasian Academy of Facial Plastic Surgery (AAFPS) President and Symposium Co-Convenor, Dr George Marcells.

“If this meeting was held anywhere else in the world, there would be 1,000 surgeons attending,” says Symposium Co-Convenor, Mr Peter Callan, a Plastic Surgeon and member of the Australian Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS).

The intimate nature of this meeting being held at the National Maritime Museum in Sydney from 8-10 October 2015 provides an opportunity for sharing close to 1,500 years of combined knowledge and hands-on experience with what is regarded as one of the most difficult procedures to perform.

  • “What makes a good nose job?”
  • “Who has the most desirable looking nose?”
  • “What techniques provide the best, most predictable, & long lasting results for patients?”

…These are just some of the hot topics that will be discussed at this meeting.

Excellence in Education

The Australasian Academy of Facial Plastic Surgery (AAFPS) are qualified specialists in Australasia focusing solely on facial cosmetic and reconstructive procedures. The Academy is committed to continual education, research and leadership for doctors and clients with an interest in the field of facial plastic surgery and, according to Dr George Marcells, the Masters Symposium is a key opportunity for experts to meet, network and share their experiences.

“The Symposium is critical for continued excellence and education in the field of facial plastic surgery,” he says. “It is through events such as the Masters Symposium that we are able to improve our techniques and evolve our approach, benefitting patient safety and aesthetic outcomes,” he says.

Founded in 1970, the Australian Society of Plastic Surgeons Inc (ASPS) is the peak body for Specialist Plastic Surgeons (both reconstructive and cosmetic). The main role of ASPS is to protect the integrity of plastic surgery as a specialty. Its mission is to provide the highest quality plastic surgery care to all Australians.

World Class Collaboration

The conference brings together the top practitioners in Australia to hear from the best of the best in the world, including:

“We’re thrilled to welcome such an acclaimed Faculty of speakers to Sydney, Australia,” says Dr Marcells. “We believe we have assembled a distinguished group of speakers from various aesthetic and reconstructive disciplines that is unparalleled in Australia and delegates will be able to benefit from an array of lectures, interactive discussions and master class sessions.”

“Of course, delegates attending the Master Symposium will also have the opportunity to share their local expertise and discuss their most challenging cases and other issues. This collaboration and sharing of information is essential to the continuing evolution of rhinoplasty excellence and ultimately means better, safer and more predictable results for patients.”
