Where: The Nail Lab – Shop 1, 330 Victoria Street, Darlinghurst NSW 2010

How much: $40 @ The Nail Lab.

The promise: The world’s first 30 minute spray tan with express extreme technology from Aviva Labs is taking clients on a US odyssey without leaving the salon! The new colours are blended to convey the essence of each “City” with each colour resulting in a vastly different tone. Imagine the desert-inspired colours of Vegas and their showgirls, the Caribbean warmth of Miami, and the fabulous celebrity glow of where else but Hollywood.

Original Sunless Tanning Solution delivers beautiful, healthy, natural-looking tans. The unique water-based formula dries quickly, works as an excellent moisturizer and leaves the skin feeling silky after each application. It eliminates spotting and streaking that other solutions leave behind. Even the most sensitive skin will be free from dryness or itchiness often brought on by other liquids.

Depending on the preferred depth of colour, try 30 minutes in the City of your choice, for a nice natural tan, 60 minutes for a medium tan, or 90 minutes for a darker tan.

Products used: A half/half mixture of Miami and Vegas for a chocolatey, yet golden glow.

The verdict: I love Spring… the weather, the flowers in bloom, and the fact that summer is just around the corner! What I don’t like is my white pasty skin left over from the frosty winter months so when I was offered to trial the new 30-minute wash-off tan I jumped at the chance!

Monika, my lovely spray tanner from The Nail Lab talked me through the new formulation, the three colours Miami, Vegas and Hollywood, what would be best for my skin tones and the depth of the colour! I like a nice natural golden glow, so we decided to mix an even amount of half Miami and half Vegas.

Monika’s attention to detail is second to none making sure my hands, feet, nails and elbows (and your knees if they are really dry) were protected with moisturiser. Her technique is meticulous and with a couple of twists and turns I was done. I dried off and I was ready to go!

That evening, I had some errands to run so it wasn’t until much later that night that I was able to shower. After having the tan on for that long I did think I would have been a little darker, going to bed slightly disappointed.

But I shouldn’t have been… I woke the next morning to find the colour had continued to develop over night and I was a lovely golden brown with no streaks, and my hands and feet were perfect with no staining of the nails.

It’s been a week now and several people have commented on my ‘natural’ tan even asking if I had been to Fiji!

I couldn’t be happier!
