Large Crowds Flock to Beauty Expo 2015

Thousands of beauty professionals from the spa, medi and wellness fields descended on the Sydney Exhibition Centre at Glebe Island this weekend for the industry’s pinnacle annual event, Beauty Expo Australia.

More than 7,000 visitors from all sectors of this fast developing industry came from across the country to enjoy a smorgasbord of products, treatments, trends and new techniques from both industry heavy-weights and new up-and-comers.

“The first-class line up of exhibitors, demonstrations and education sessions ensured attendees left feeling more knowledgeable and better equipped to service their customers and build their businesses,” said Julia Erben, Event Director.

From all the sizzle of makeup, nail, lash/brow and tanning exhibits; to the science behind the very latest advancements in skincare; to the growing wellness market with natural and organic treatments; to celebrity guest appearances from the likes of Gina Liano and Sophie Monk… Beauty Expo Australia 2015 had it all.

“Beauty Expo provides a unique launch pad for new products, brands and treatments, whilst also offering a platform for established favourites to unveil their latest innovations. This year’s event was no exception and we are confident we achieved our objective of helping beauty professionals feel better educated, motivated and inspired to be a part of this incredibly innovative and exciting industry,” continued Erben.

Highlights of the two-day event included Main Stage and the Wellness & Spa Stage which featured presentations and live demonstrations from leading industry experts such as Michael Brown, Rae Morris and Elaine Watson. The Education Sessions also proved very popular, with intimate talks and demonstrations from leading spa and beauty experts such as Sharon-Lee to help salon professionals increase profitability and maximise existing resources.

The sold out Paramedical Conference, held in collaboration with industry leading partners The Laser Lounge and The Australasian Academy of Cosmetic Dermal Science (AACDS), and sponsored by Dermapen by Equipmed, attracted future-oriented salon managers set to transition their beauty salon into a medi-clinic.

Celebrating the Industry’s Most Creative Talents

Recognising and rewarding the best creative talent in the industry is another key objective of Beauty Expo Australia and that is why it hosts two of the industry’s most prestigious awards – the Face2Face Makeup Awards and Nailympia Australia.

With a record number of entrants, both competitions featured some of the industry’s most creative and innovative artists.

Taking out the top trophies at the Face2Face Makeup Awards were:

  • Alana Mevissen – Beauty Editorial Category
  • Helen Beasley – Body Art Category
  • Courtney Hudson – Film & Fantasy SPSX Category

In only its second year, Nailympia Australia saw a 40% increase in entrant numbers, with nail technician Kathy White taking out the event’s top award – the Robert Bowrey Trophy.
