This year is almost over, and there’s no better way to ring in the New Year than taking a seat in the hair salon and revamping your look – whether it is a colour, cut or new styling technique.

We give you the low-down on some of the upcoming hair trends for 2017, so when January rolls around you’ll be waaay ahead of the pack.

In terms of trends, next year looks set to be (*holds in excitement*) one of fuss-free, relaxed and low-maintenance looks, which is great news for pretty much everybody!

2017 will see the rise of a more natural, fresh and ‘lived in’ look with a strong focus on protection too (dead hair is so 2016). Looking for inspo? You’ve come to the right place. These are the hair trends that will take you all the way into 2017 with style. Side note: start booking those appointments!

Everyday style

For everyday style you will see fewer curls and sleeker, softer styles with an emphasis on healthy-looking, ‘undone’ hair. #Iwokeuplikethis.

This look is all about embracing your natural texture and using deeply nourishing and hydrating products to keep it looking healthy and fresh. This season will embrace softer looking fringes and shaping around the face too. It will instantly update a tired cut, which is perfect for those who are afraid of a major chop.

Evening style

There were be a minimalised need to use curling irons or heating tools, as the evening style embraces a look that doesn’t appear too ‘overdone’, but rather soft and natural. For example unravelling braids during the day, transformed into tousled waves during the evening, will achieve an effortless, relaxed style.

Accessories are also finding their way into evening looks – from hairbands, clips, jewellery, ribbons and flowers, treat your hair like a blank canvas and get creative! Accessories add an extra edge to a style and are perfect for a bad hair day, too.

Chop it

For a more permanent style, a new cut will transform your look. Short hair cuts such as the bob and bold, graphic cuts are in and they not only look good, but get rid of any split ends, adding more volume and bounce to your hairstyle.

If you’re not prepared to go uber short with a bob, try a mid-length chop, aka the Lob – or long bob. The Lob has been wildly popular for years, but 2017’s rendition is a bit different. Namely, this mid-length style has a lot more layers for a fun, stylish way to take your hair to the next level.

Colour it

Blonde is making a serious comeback in 2017. However, whatever the colour, it must be natural! Foiled blondes will be the go-to and there will be fewer platinum blondes and more women with highlighted hair for a more textured, natural look.

Remember to protect your hair and your new colour with nutrient rich treatments that will boost and improve the condition of the hair in preparation for, or after styling and colouring.
